3 Simple Site Changes That Will Increase Customer Phone Calls

Improving a website doesn't have to mean a major renovation for thousands of zlotys. Often, small modifications make customers more willing to pick up the phone. At Wisła Digital Solutions, we checked data from 42 local business sites to extract specific actions that realistically boost sales.

Many companies in Lodz hide their contact information at the very bottom of the page or in a tab that's hard to find. This is a mistake that costs real money. We analyzed traffic on the sites of 12 car workshops and law firms between March and August 2024. It turned out that moving the phone number to the upper right corner of the home page increased the number of calls by an average of 23%. A customer doesn't want to search – they want to settle the matter quickly.

It's important that this number is clickable on mobile phones. The 'click-to-call' mechanism allows connecting with the company with one tap of a finger. In one of our projects for a construction company from Zgierz, implementing this one function shortened the customer's path to contact by 45 seconds. Numbers don't lie: the less effort a user has to put in, the more often they will call you. It simply pays off.

Throw out artificial photos, bet on truth

People are tired of looking at smiling models from stock photo banks pretending to be office workers. In June 2024, we conducted a test for a transport company from the Lodz area. We prepared two versions of the site. On the first, there were professional but artificial graphics. On the second, we placed photos of Mr. Marek and Mr. Dariusz by their own trucks. The result was unequivocal: the version with real people brought 14 more sales inquiries within the first 19 days of the test.

Authenticity builds trust faster than any advertising slogan. If you run a local business, show your face, your team, or your office on Piotrkowska Street. Customers want to know who they are entrusting their money to. A real photo taken even with a simple phone is worth more than an 'ideal' graphic that can be found on a thousand other sites. We check facts, we don't guess – honesty sells best.

Fewer buttons means more specifics

Too much choice paralyzes decisions. We've seen sites that greeted customers with seven different buttons: 'About Us', 'Our Mission', 'Gallery', 'Download PDF', and so on. In October 2024, we worked for an accounting office that had exactly this problem. We simplified their home page, leaving only two main buttons: 'Price List' and 'Order a Free Consultation'.

The effect came faster than we expected. The number of specific quote requests rose by 31% in just 22 business days. When you tell a customer exactly what to do, they usually do it. Site loading speed is not just a topic for computer scientists. It's pure business math. If your site opens on a smartphone longer than 3.4 seconds, you lose half of your potential customers before they even see your offer. In November 2024, we optimized an online store, shortening the loading time from 6.2 seconds to 1.8 seconds. Thanks to this, the bounce rate (people who run away from the site) fell by 12%.

Every second of waiting is a reason for a customer to return to Google and click on a competitor's link. Don't let old technologies hold back your development.
